Banana Blueberry Green Smoothie with Collagen | Real Food with Dana

I exaggerate sometimes. Only slightly, and for dramatic effect in stories and stuff, obviously. BUT when I say I had this Banana Blueberry Green Smoothie smoothie almost every single day this summer, I am not kidding or exaggerating at all. Why, you ask? Well.

  1. It’s freaking delicious, as you will soon see.
  2. When you’re busy AF, you make real food work somehow.

Every morning this summer I coached the kiddos for about 3-4 hours, depending on how many lessons I had in the morning after practice. And then would normally run home to change, and head to the gym. And when you’re rolling out of bed to head to practice for that long, I know I’ll need food…but I definitely didn’t feel like making anything. So smoothies it was! And super simple smoothies, at that. Some of them (on the days when I didn’t have this one) were downright gross. Too much green, not enough other stuff, I was drinking grass basically. The other coaches made fun of me as I choked it down, obviously. Well deserved, ha!

I honestly think what made this smoothie so good was Primal Kitchen’s new Chocolate-Coconut Collagen Fuel. You guys, I was so lazy I barely went to the grocery store except when I absolutely HAD to this summer. So I didn’t have any coconut or almond milk on hand to mix in these smoothies. Luckily, this new protein already tasted like coconut and made the smoothie super creamy, so I didn’t need the almond milk! Winning. The Collagen Fuel was my favorite in here, but I also loved Vital Proteins’ Vanilla Collagen, and the Equip Foods Chocolate protein in here too. Don’t worry, I tired them all so you wouldn’t have to, ha!

Ingredients
  • ½ - 1 banana, frozen
  • ⅓ cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 large handful spinach
  • 2 scoops Primal Kitchen Collagen Fuel (sub: 1 serving your favorite protein powder)
  • 6 oz water or almond milk, plus more as needed to thin out
Directions
  1. Add everything to a blender and let 'er rip! Add more liquid as necessary to thin it out.
