This recipe is one of my favorite holiday snacks that we’ve been making for as long as I can remember: my family’s Christmas Crunch!
Honestly, I have no idea where this recipe came from, but my mom has been making it for us, for teacher and co-worker gifts since my brother and I were little kids. It’s so popular in our circle that once we give it as a gift one year, everyone asks for it year after year! It’s seriously delicious, and for many years it was one of those foods I felt like I couldn’t keep in my house because I could not stop eating it. To the point where it was something that I felt like I “shouldn’t” be eating or had to restrict myself from for YEARS. Because either I wasn’t having any of it at all, or I was having all of it to get it out of the house.⠀
⠀
What helped me get out of that cycle and not feel so controlled by food? Giving myself unconditional permission to eat. All food. Whenever. Not just in the holiday season, but throughout the year. And it slowly becomes less like forbidden fruit.
Obviously, this is much easier said than done. If you feel like you’re stuck in that cycle and want some help getting out of it, click here to learn more about how we can work together for 1×1 nutrition counseling.
But for now, just enjoy this delicious Christmas Crunch recipe!
- Honey nut Chex
- Golden Grahams (omit for gluten-free)
- Holiday m’n’ms⠀
- White Chocolate chips⠀
- Dark or milk chocolate chips⠀
- Peanut butter chips*
- Raisins⠀
- Honey roasted peanuts⠀
- ⠀
- Mix and eat! I honestly have no idea about about proportions of the ingredients, I never measure haha. You do generally want to have more cereal than the other ingredients. Mix to your heart's content, enjoy, and give it as a small gift!
**For purposes of buying ingredients, I would buy 1 box each of both cereals (or just one box if you're going GF with only the honey nut chex), and one package/container of each of the rest of the ingredients. Mix to your desired proportions - or, just dump everything and go!
