WINGS. Is there anything that makes you think of football food more than wings?! Well, besides my Buffalo Chicken Dip (duh). These Sweet & Spicy Super Bowl Wings are close second and are sure to become a new crowd favorite.
The biggest struggle I have with deciding what foods to make for the big game are what kind of wings to make. Sweet? Spicy? Buffalo with Ranch dressing? Sticky with a marinade or a dry rub? The possibilities for flavor explosions are endless. The worst offense you possibly commit is to make dry or boring wings. Luckily with this recipe (or the bunch of other wings recipes I have won’t lead you astray!)
This is a really strange time of year. Everyone has been dieting or Whole30’ing or whatever-ing all January, then the Super Bowl rolls around and it’s like all bets are off give me all the things I’m going to eat EVERYTHING I’ve been restricting all January! Not the best idea. Here’s the thing. The more you restrict in January, when you’re faced with all these foods at Super Bowl parties (or Valentine’s Day, or Awards ceremony parties), the more you’ll feel the primal need to eat all the things. When you tell your brain you can’t have something, that’s all it fixates on. So as soon as you get an opportunity to eat those things, you go HAM on them. Your brain and body aren’t betraying you by eating all the things, it’s just a reaction to the decisions you made beforehand (of restriction). More on this coming soon. (and check out this podcast for more!)
