Holy freaking MOLY you guys. I’ve been obsessed with this fry sauce since I got back from Iceland & Denmark last month. Bring it ON for dipping anything and everything.
As you probably read in my recap post…I ate a LOT of burgers while I was there. A LOT. They’re one of the easiest things to get gluten-free when you’re traveling, even if you don’t have many options – you can usually find a bunless burger. But one of the best things about traveling in Europe? They have this dang delicious fry sauce that they serve with pretty much every single burger AND *almost* all their french fries are gluten free because they use separate fryers for other things. Literally almost cried, it’s fine.
If you’ve never had or heard of fry sauce before, you haven’t lived it’s a condiment that’s served on fries and tostones around the world (except the east coast, apparently) and is usually a combination of mayonnaise and ketchup. Sounds kind of weird, but trust me. I’d put this sh*t on EVERYTHING like I do Frank’s red hot sauce.
Now, fry sauce in your typical restaurants prooobably doesn’t use the best of ingredients. So that’s an upgrade I’m going to make here with some of my favorite brands: Primal Kitchen and the New Primal! Plus, just mayo and ketchup alone? We can do better than that. More flavor bang for your buck, if you will, by adding a few key ingredients – to make this not only a creamy dreamy sauce, but also a garlicky, tangy sauce with a little kick.
What to put it on? Or dip in it? Literally anything. I’ve done sweet potato fries, my Buffalo Roasted Cauliflower, Lemon Garlic Roasted Broccoli, slabbed it on burgers, chicken, hot dogs, Roasted Carrots, used it as a salad dressing…you name it, I’ve tried it. This fry sauce can be put on ANYTHING.
- ¼ cup Primal Kitchen mayo (or homemade) mayonnaise
- 2 Tbsp Ketchup (this is my current favorite!)
- 1 Tbsp Buffalo Sauce (current favorite - the New Primal!)
- 1 Tbsp Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- Small pinch of sea salt + pepper
- Stir all ingredients together in a small bowl until well mixed. Serve as a dipping sauce or drizzled on top of all things delicious.

They do serve this on the east coast… its russian dressing.
I’ve never heard of that being served with fries though! Maybe I’m just living in a bubble, hah!
